Statement by Brad Chambers on Indiana’s Designation as ‘Tech Hub’

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 23, 2023) – Republican gubernatorial candidate and former Indiana Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers today released the following statement after the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced Applied Research Institute’s (ARI) Heartland BioWorks, a consortium of Hoosier research institutions and industry leaders, would be eligible to receive up to $75 million in implementation funding as one of 31 newly designated “Tech Hubs” across the country:

“This designation proves what’s possible when we lean into our strengths,” stated Chambers. “With our skilled workforce, world-class research institutions and manufacturing and innovation prowess, we can — and will — build the high-wage economy of the future right here in Indiana. As governor, I’ll lead with the vision, urgency and aspiration necessary to get this done and ensure a brighter future for all Hoosiers.”

As Indiana’s former Secretary of Commerce, Chambers launched a partnership with the ARI to become a trusted partner on innovation strategy and the execution of federal programs such as the EDA’s “Tech Hubs” program and the U.S. Department of Defense’s “Innovation Hubs” program. In that role, Chambers also served as the chairman of ARI.
